We're rolling out SMS2003, SP2. We want to enable the remote tools - however
on all of our 200o sp4 and xp sp 2 workstatoins, we have a very old versoin
of network associates remote desktop contorller agent, for remote access to
the pc's. This is a single service called connserv.exe that runs. The program
has an uninstall that you can run from the client that uninstalls and reboots
the pc, the the mouse curser is relased and works again. The problem is that
when this agent and the sms 2003 remote tools are both enabled, the mouse
curser locks up permanently. ( The mouse still works if you use XP remote
desktop to remote in to the pc) but sms remote desktop and the mouse at the
pc itself are hung frozen solid completely until you uninstall the network
associates remote desktop agent.
The other issue is it's not as simple as just disabling the service, in fact
we haven't found any other method at all to script an uninstall of this
agent, other then manually uninstalling it at the pc itself, which will be
impossible for 3500 pc's.
We have tried creating a wininstall msi, deleting the directory and registry
entries of mcafee remote dekstop agent, etc but can't figure out what is
causing the mouse to hang. If it's just a single reg entry or whatever. You
uninstall it using the programs uninstall and the mouse works again with SMS
remote tools agent installed.
Can anyone suggest anything else we might be missing or have you seen this
before, is there some kind of virtual or remote mouse driver thats remaining?
