Default Any Way to Show File Names Only on Taskbar Buttons...

....rather than both Path and File Names? As it is, if I have 3 documents
open in Notepad, the Taskabr buttons all read "C:\Docu...". This isn't very
helpful.

I'm not sure that's it, d-d. I have "Display the full path in the
address bar" *and* "Display the full path in the title bar" checked in
Folder Options | View, and the path is shown in folder windows as you'd
expect. But Notepad always shows the filename only, whether an active
window or minimised on the Taskbar.

I looked at all Notepad registry settings and can't see a way to change
this. I'm curious as to how Daik's managed to get Notepad showing the
full path. Anyone else see this?

Correct. And that's exactly what the OP wants according to his
subject line.

My bad. I forgot that I'm using a third-party Notepad replacement called
Notepad2. Under Settings, it has the option to Show Full Path in Title.
Unchecking this causes only the filename to appear on the Taskbar button.

Sorry to waste your time, Nightowl.

Hey Daik, no need to apologise. You didn't waste my time -- I learned
something new :-)

Um, yes, but I have both options checked. . . which implies that
un-checking them wouldn't change Notepad's behaviour. Never mind, Daik
posted that he was actually using a Notepad replacement app, so all bets
are off :-)

Just for clarification: The caption bar (title bar) depends on the
particular application only and therefore, there is no general setting.
The setting mentioned above applies to the Explorer and the original
Editor (Notepad.exe) does not use that setting. However, there are
some (few) programs using that setting as well because it can be read
from the registry since Win95. The OP was using a third-party Notepad
replacement and apparently, that particular application seems to have
an own options menue allowing for that setting.
