You could use System Restore to reset Windows by a day or two.

=============
It seems your issue is not really "Active Desktop Recovery" - it is recovery
from a bad virus infection. Unfortunately for you, anti-virus products
protect you against infections but they can only remove some of the damage
done by viruses. In many cases a lot of damage remains and is very difficult
if not impossible to remove. You have to consider your machine as
compromised. I would back up all data files (including your EMail files),
then re-install Windows on a freshly formatted disk.

You need to take it back to the "some one" who fixed, and have them fix it.
Or, you need to reinstall the O/S.

O/S = Operating System = Windows XP (in your case)

If you perform a Google search for that error, there see to be several
easy solutions that require minimal effort.
Seems to happen after a power interruption. Does that sound like you?
These easy solutions that worked for other people with what sounds
like the exact same problem may not work for you, but I would try them
first before doing any kind of Windows reinstall, Windows repair,
Restore Point, etc.
Why go to all that trouble when you haven't tried the easy stuff
first?
Start with some scans for malicious software.
Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware
detection programs:

Hope you didn't pay them kos it's still broke!
Backup your personal data, then do a format & clean install of Windows.
Please note that a Repair Install (AKA in-place upgrade) will NOT fix this!
After the clean install, you'll have the equivalent of a "new computer" so
take care of everything on the following page before otherwise connecting
the machine to the internet or a network and before using a USB key that
isn't brand-new or hasn't been freshly formatted:
