Default 2 windowsxp

OK, heres my problem, I really hope somone can help me here. I had unplugged
my computer and put it in storage for around a year. When I got it back out
and plugged it up I noticed that alot of my programs had ran together. I
called the computer company (dell) and explained to them what was going on.
They sent me a windowsXP pack 2 cd to install. So, I install it. When I
restarted my computer, this message came up saying I had to choose between
windowsXP home edition and windowsXP home edition. I have 2 WindowsXP on my
computer now. How the heck do I get one of these off?

I had the same problem. You probably put the second OS on the same partition
as the original. That's what I did. I ended up re-formatting.

Alternatively, (less work - less destructive)

show hidden files

edit c:\boot.ini - change timout to 1 sec, or remove the second OS line
completely. Just to be on the safe side, copy boot.ini to boot.ini.old
so you can undo the change if need be.

Try using Start - Run - MSCONFIG. Go to the BOOT.INI tab and click
on the "Check all boot paths" button.

Good lucl
