Default XP reinstallation on SATA HDD

Hi!
I am attempting to reinstall Win XP Home on a machine (GA-8N-LIC)
with Hitachi 82GB SATA hard drive.
It inspects system, loads SATA driver (I provided diskette driver),
loads files, starts windows then asks if I want
to do reinstall or repair. I chose reinstall and formatted HDD.
Then I follow the windows installation instruction, press F8 to agree etc.
Computer restarts itself and asks me to take out FD or other media.
After i take out CD and FD, press enter to proceed then I got the massage on
screen
"DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER"
I insert CD and press enter then initial windows setup from CD starts again.
Is it my HDD bad or something wrong?
Please help me on this **** XP reinstallation...

Bradley

Default RE: XP reinstallation on SATA HDD

Once in xp installation, select as needed, after F8,leave all alone even when
the text apears "remove floppy or cd".They all stay in till xp is
running.Also,
in BIOS,set cd as 1st boot device,hd 2nd,leave till xp is running.

Try checking the BIOS settings to make sure that the SATA drive is still
enabled and in the Boot sequence.usually 2nd after the CD
Then reboot without the CD ...you should not need to push any keys it should
boot off the SATA drive.
Get back to us and let us know your boot order

Hi! Peter and DL,

Thanks for your help on this XP reinstallation.
I did change boot order to 1st CD and 2nd HDD as Andrew advises.
But same story and couldn't start from HDD.
SATA drive is still enabled in BIOS.
This is first time with SATA drive and don't know what to do...
Just want to finish this dame installation...
If not, I have to switch to IDE drive and and keep this SATA HHD.

Thanks again, Peter.

Did you read the manual for specific instructions on configuring sata boot
drive.
It can vary and may involve both bios settings, mobo jumpers, and sata/raid
bios config

Hi! DL,

Sorry for late reply.
Thanks for pointing out BIOS setting on raid BIOS config.
After I checked through the mainboard manual, I have to set disable in raid
config and auto in IDE/SATA instead of none.
