XP Install With RAID Drivers

I'm preparing to install Windows XP Professional on a new system. The
computer has built-in RAID on the motherboard and no floppy drive.

When I run the Windows XP setup and press F6 to load the RAID driver the
setup routine expects to find the drivers on a floppy diskette. Is there any
to direct setup to look for the drivers on a CD or USB flash drive? Or is
there some other way to resolve this problem?

The board mfg should have included a floppy disk with it at time of purchase,
either way,you'll need a floppy drive and disk.If its an intel based
board,go to
intel,downloads,chipset,software,matrix storage,download the floppy software
for youre RAID controller,they list all.A floppy drive runs new about 25.00,
however a good pc repair shop should have many used,they run about 5.00

Floppy Drives are cheap.......suggest you buy one
or you will need to use another computer with burning capablities to
"slipstream" the Raid drivers into XP Pro.
This creates another installable OS on a CD/DVD

That is not how you incorporate RAID drivers into a Windows installation
cd, peter. It is a bit more involved that that.

Sounds like the temporary floppy is the way to go. I wish there was some way
to put one in permanently, but the front panel of the case won't allow it.

Just temporarily fit the diskette drive to the computer, you can have it
hang or rest in a safe place while you install Windows. Once done
disconnect it and close the computer case. Other than possibly using a
USB floppy it is the fastest way to do it for single installations. You
can also use a USB floppy drive but only a handful of USB floppies are
compatible with the setup program:

A connected USB floppy disk drive does not work when you press F6 to
install mass storage drivers during the Windows XP installation process

If you do lots of installations on different computers with different
controllers it may be a good idea to invest in one of these drives, they
aren't all that expensive.
