Default XP Errors-The System Can't Read from the specified device-DXMRT._

Hi. I decided to upgrade to XP home from Win 98 on my Pavilion 8660c. Upgrade
Advisor showed no major problems-just some 98 programs i had to uninstall.
Anyway, setup goes swimmingly up to the part when files are copied to the PC
from the CD. This part is almost complete (the green bar is pretty much full)
but the following file wont copy over-DXMRT._. The box states that "the
system cannot read from the specified device" I don't think that it's my
cd-rom drive because it copied all the others just before this and one other
file. Tried installing again with dynamic update, same issue. Should I get a
replacement disk, can I skip over this file? Whatever your suggestions are, I
need to be able to install from within Win 98 because I only have crappy HP
recovery disks and not a true Windows 98 CD. I did ScanDisk and Disk
Defragmenter before I began.

Try reinstalling 98,as soon as it is delete the incompatable programs, then
reinstall xp.How old is the xp cd,maybe clean the cd 1st,use rubbing alcohol
on a clean cloth, also, sometimes moving the cdrom to the same IDE cable
as C: (set cdrom as slave),helps..
