Default Windows XP very slow

Hi.

I have some Windows XP laptops in my AD domain.

If they are in my network or with no network at all, everything works fine.

However, if my user connects to his/her network at home, everything becomes
incredibly slow (even opening an Excel or Word document becomes
unresponsive).

Is this a known issue? What may be happening?

Thank you,

Nuno

Default Re: Windows XP very slow

I have noticed a couple of things that can cause this. First check if there
are any shortcuts under "My network places" that are on the office network.
I have seen "Open" and "Save" and autosave tasks come to a crawl when some
of these shortcuts are unreachable. Secondly, see if the printers on the
network are mapped by name. If possible see if the printers are able to be
mapped by IP.

Lastly, see if their shares are still mapped when they are off the network.
Unreachable network drives can cause this as well. "Net Use * /Delete /Y"
will remove the maps when they are off the network.
