Default Windows XP SP3 RTM delayed but I installed it yesterday : what should I do ?

Hello.

I downloaded Windows XP Service Pack 3 RTM from Microsoft servers yesterday
and I installed it on 2 PCs.

Today, I see that it has been delayed for a bug with a specific application
(I don't have that application).

What should I do ?
- Uninstall that version and wait until the correct version is available.
- Let it installed (in that case, will it be possible to install the correct
version over it ?)

Thank you for your answers.

Patrick Schevenels.

Nope
There is nothin wrong with the one you downloaded.
It will be the exact same version when they get round to having it ready for
downloading.
There is NO bug.......
There is and wil not be a"correct"version.
What you have is what I have.........and that is the Windows XP SP3 RTM.

The issue is an interaction with another Microsoft product, a Point
of Sale software program ( Cash Register data ). Unless your PCs
are using that software then it won't be necessary to do anything.
The hold up on release is to install a filter on Microsoft Update so
that if a system has that product it will not offer Service Pack 3 as
an available update. The fix will likely be done to the Point of Sale
software and not SP3.

Default RE: Windows XP SP3 RTM delayed but I installed it yesterday : what sho

If you have downloaded from the link that follows then you won't have any new
versions:

http://download.windowsupdate.com/ms...2300ebfde4.exe

The above link is all one line or try this shorten link:

http://tinyurl.com/3f7pm8

The conflict is with MS software which you are not likely to be using it
anyway. That software is a cash cow for MS so they have to do something
about it if they want to continue selling it.

The delay is only about two days [from 2008-04-29] because by then a fix
should be ready!

Hope this helps.

As you're not one of the 3 people on the planet who use the Microsoft
Dynamics and hence you are not affected by this bug, I suggest you don't
worry about it. Notice that the same bug hits people installing Vista SP1 on
a Vista machine yet microsoft can't be bothered to withdraw Vista SP1.
