Default Windows XP small business

I was having problems with some other programs, was advised to remove and
re-install, which I did. Now, when I try to acess Word & others, I get an
error message: "Microsoft Word has not been installed for current user.
Please run set-up to install the application. I have tried everything I
could, and still no access. I have many years of files saved. Help!
