Default Windows XP Professional

Just purchased windows xp professional and trying to install. Computers says
newer version on computer but not aware of any program already installed.
How can I proceed? "It says to reboot but doesn't allow me to install?

Two options...

1) Boot from the CD (change that in the BIOS) and do a clean install.
EVERYTHING you did not backup/have the installation media for will be GONE.

2) I'm guessing (you left ouot a lot of detail) that you have Windows XP
Home Edition currently in use on the computer and it has SP2 installed? And
you somehow *bought* a Windows XP Professional CD without SP2 integrated.
You merely need to do a Google search for "integrate SP2 into Windows XP CD"
and find a utility or set of instructions you can handle.
