Default Windows XP installation on Asus P5W WS64 motherboard SATA drives not detected

Hi,

I seem to have an issue with the P5W WS 64 Profesional motherboard and
Western Digital 320GB WD320YS hard drive.

I setup the motherboard for Standard IDE and also AHIC when I boot Windows
Vista Business it doesn't detect the SATA hard drive. When I put in the
Intel SATA driver disk it doesn't accept the drivers. Under Windows XP
Professional with Service pack 2, it doesn't detect the hard drive under
SATA nor AHIC mode.

Is there a solution for this problem?

Thanks

Default RE: Windows XP installation on Asus P5W WS64 motherboard SATA drives n

The BIOS has to be set for SATA or RAID,by default they are not...Once set,
save & exit BIOS,set to boot to xp cd,press F6,install drivers for the
SATA/RAID
controller from the floppy disk asus should have included. If not intel has
it,chip
set,software,matrix storage.
