Using Windows XP Service Pack 2 Update For IT Professionals
I downloaded the Windows XP Service Pack 2 for IT & Network Professionals
because I'm working on a PC that has Service Pack 1 and the regular auto
download and update is not working for some reason. Has anyone used this SP2
for network professionals on a single PC that had this issue? My guess is
something has blocked this PC's normal ability to download SP2 automatically
the way it should've in the very beginning.

Possibly. You should properly prepare for SP2 in any case.
- Check to make sure you do not need a motherboard BIOS update for it.
- Check to see that all of your hardware drivers are the latest FROM tghe
hardware manufacturer - in general avoid getting hardware drivers from http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ .
- Scan and clean your machine of Viruses/Trojans/Worms with whatever
antivirus application you have.
- Scan and clean your machine of Spyware/Adware/Malware with a few different
AntiSpyware applications (Lavasoft Ad-Aware, Spybot Search and Destroy and
SuperAntiSpyware come to mind.)
- Check your hard disk drive for errors (CHKDSK).
- Make sure you have at least 15% free disk space (More than 4GB is
recommended) on your OS partition (C drive usually) and defragment the
partition.
Then manually install the SP2. There is *no difference* in SP2 from the web
page, using automatic updates or installing it from the stand-alone
installer. It will still install SP2 - the same SP2.

We have already done all of what you had posted but thanks though.
