Default Slow Auto Logon in Winodws XP

Hi all,

I have a problem for slow auto logon without any domain (just a workgroup)
for running in Fujistu P7230 notebook. After loading the personal setting,
it has to wait almost 1 minutes to load the desktop icons. I have tried to
delete the profiles and use other accounts to auto logon and it still does
not help.

My method for auto logon is change the registry key to autoadminlogon key to
1. And if my machine does not has any slow problems if I do not set any
auto logon.

Please advise.

Thanks,
Ivan

In the future, if you feel your post is relevant to more than one
newsgroup - crosspost instead of multiposting. It's easier for you and
easier for those who might read it and might answer it.

You multiposted this question to (at least) these newsgroups:
- microsoft.public.windowsxp.work_remotely
- microsoft.public.windowsxp.security_admin
- microsoft.public.windowsxp.perform_maintain
- microsoft.public.windowsxp.newusers
- microsoft.public.windowsxp.general
- microsoft.public.windowsxp.setup_deployment

"Almost 1 minutes"?

Here's the difference between autologon and you logging in. It's doing the
autologon AS SOON AS IT COMES up... You probably aren't as quick if you turn
autologon off - so it has had time to load up the startup items it needs to.
With autologon, it starts logging you in while it is still trying to load
other stuff - so you have taken what may have been a single task and made it
into multiple for the computer to juggle at one time.

Check your startups - especially services/etc. See what you really need and
don't, clean it up some. Also - update your video, network and motherboard
chipset drivers from each manufacturer's website (not from
windowsupdate.microsoft.com)...
