Default Reset machine half way

I reboot the machine during the installation phase because it was too late
in the night. Do I need to reformat the partition before start setup?

It might be better to do so.

There is a chance that if you boot from the installation CD and
reinstall it will detect the failed install and give you the option to
complete that one or start over.

Good luck
