Some bad RAM corrupted my registry, and I'm trying to reinstall Windows XP
professional. I'm using the reinstall disk I got from Dell. I'm at a point
where Setup is asking me for a file from the Windows SP2 CD, but the disk I
got from Dell was issued before SP2. Microsoft's website tells me I will have
a 4-6 week wait before receiving the SP2 CD.
Is there a way around this problem? Or can someone send me an extra copy of
their disk?
Thanks
First, no one is going to send you a copy of their disk. Your problems is a
result of trying to do a repair installation with a pre SP2 CD on an SP2
installation. 2 options, format your hard drive and do a clean install, or
slipstream SP2 into your Dell install disk.
