Reinstall xp on new system

My old pc bit the dust----built a new one---MS will not let me re-install my
update disk, which was on my old system.


It wants a disk from an original install......all I have is the update disk.
Any ideas

Are you saying you owned a Windows XP Upgrade license?

If you do not have a retail version of a previous OS to utilize during the
installation using the upgrade Windows XP CD - your "upgrade license" is all
but worthless to you.
