Network Install Phase of Windows XP Home Edition Hangs when instal
I just purchased a new WD EIDE 320 GB hard drive. Using windows XP home
edition I have successfully partitioned the disk and started the next phase
of the install process. For some reason the install gets to the "install
network" phase and the process hangs.
- the EIDE is a WD Caviar* SE
- the EIDE drive is the only drive on the system.
- the EIDE drive is controlled by the primary contoller on the motherboard
- the motherboard is an ASUS P4V8X-X
- I have tried the cable select, single, and master jumper settings on the
harddrive and I get the same results.
- I have searched the WD help and support site finding nothing on their FAQ
pages or their tech support site

Take everything out of the system (disable in the BIOS) except what is
necessary - also unhook (externally) everything except what is necessary.
Unnecessary things during the install... Sound, network, modem, zip drives,
external hard drives, extra internal hard disk drives, printers, scanners,
etc....
What SP level is your Windows XP Home CD? Should be at least SP1.
Re: Network Install Phase of Windows XP Home Edition Hangs when in
