Default Multi Configuration of Win XP install

I am about to do a fresh install of Windows XP. I would like a very lean
install for doing video editing with out having alot of the baggage that a
Windows XP acquires after installing other software; i.e. real networks,
flash, quicktime, acrobat, etc. I realize that a lot of this software the
TSRs can be disabled but some of the software keeps an active footprint or
is very difficult to disable the active footprint. Not to mention the
recommended virus and spyware software.

What I would like to have is the ability to boot Windows XP in a very
clean way for lean video editing or a normal every day usage way that
would include online browsing.
Is there another way to do this than to have two completely separate
installs on different hard drive partitions along with a bootloader. If I
were to do the two separate installs on two partitions on a single PC
would that require two licenses? In lieu of that could I do a complete
system backup and restore using two different Win XP installs and be legal
with the Win XP EULA?

I would actually prefer one install and the option of two different boot
modes as to two installs.

Thankyou very much for your responses in advance.

All of the programs you mentioned are USER installable programs....3 of them
you would actually need to search out and install,Flash will pop up a
message asking if you want to install.....unless of course you are
installing from a manufacturer specific OEM XP CD.

Look for fsautostart, it will probably do what you want. It was
developed for Flight Sim gamers, a game that requires lots of "juice",
you can use fsautostart for other things, it is or should be well suited
for people doing video editing.

Thanks John. A lot of the info I found on this was kinda of vauge.
Apparantly there is a lot of configuration settings available with this.

Does anyone know how this is viewed in the EULA? How would this be viewed
by Windows Update if I started out with one installation and through
backups and restores ended up with two different Windows installs with two
different registries.?
