installing service pack2 on a laptop without AC Power
Hi,
I have a Compaq Laptop that will not run on the mains when it is switched
on! I'm trying to install Windows XP Service pack 2 but get the error
message
"requires machine to be ac power" I can fully charge the battery when the
machine is powered off and get around 2 hours use which should be enough to
install Service pack 2 , are there any command switches that stops the
machine looking at the AC power state before installing..
It not worth the machine being repaired as it only a few more quid for a new
machine..

I don't know of any. Besides, it can easily take more than 2 hours to
install the SP2 update especially since the machine will try to slow down
the CPU when the power gets low.
