how do I enable hyper threading?

I checked n my hyper threading is disabled.How do I enable it?I am using an
Pentium D 3.0 ghz Dual core processor n Intel 945GNT motherboard.Can anyone
help me n give me details how to enable it.Thanks n appreciate any help.

Is it enabled in the BIOS? You should be aware that HT isn't all that
it's cracked up to be! It might not provide that much of a performance
boost, if your applications are not written to take advantage of HT you
may actually see a drop in performance with HT enabled, not to mention
that in HT mode the processor may generate a lot more heat.

Actually hyper-threading is a must for Dual-Core,for Dual-Core is really 2
processors stacked together,w/o HT,only one is active...Youre BIOS enables
it,
to verify,download the processor id utility from
intel,downloads/processor/software
Also,make sure you installed the chipset installation utility for youre
chipset

Without knowing the make and model number of your computer or
motherboard I can't say exactly where to look, you will have to look
around for the processor options or other advanced settings. If HT is
enabled you should see two logical processors in the Device Manager.

Hiya,
I have hyperthreading enabled, go to the bios ,under CPU , i think its
listed as the first item ,and enable, as the previous lads stated
it will show up as 2 cpu's in hardware device manager. at this moment in
time I cant check properly for you as i am runnin diagnostics on it
It is a Dell P4 3Gg cpu its about 4 yr old still performs quite well,
reading newsgroups on my 2nd desktop

Hyperthreading is implemented with 2 virtual processors on a single core
to allow two threads to run concurrently. Both virtual processors share
a single cache, ALU, etc. A dual core processor is two independent CPUs
in one package. The only thing shared is the level 2 cache. The BIOS
HT setting has no bearing on dual core processors. In fact, on my ASUS
P5B Dlx MB running a Core 2 Duo, the BIOS HT setting does not even
appear as it is irrelevant. It does appear if a Pentium 4 with HT is
installed.

If dual core processors had HT, 4 CPUs would show in Task Manager.
