Default RE: How to block Windows Desktop Search installation?

Hi Steve,

I'm using WSUS for update and I've set up the application to not approve
automaticaly update but this one have been deployed on all my 900 computers !

Result : all my server were very slow because the Desktop search scan all
mapped disk.

So my action was to disable the "Windows Search" services and stop it. It
seems to work but on some computers the service is still running even if the
service is set to disable ?!?!?

Hope it can help you

Yep, the problem with Automatic Updates is that they ain't just Updates, they
are also Automatic Additions. Prime example of such is Java, which for most
users is totally unnecessary, but whose presence then exposes the computer to
a neverending series of exploits, demanding constant patching of the added
software.

I'd have to say that Linux' apt system is far superior, in that it's
possible to update your system without acquiring 'excess baggage' in the
process.
