Thanks to everyone who replied. I`ve thought about Vista, but I`m
satisfied with XP, my computer runs fast on XP, and
I wouldn`t want to slow it down. My system is 1.6 GHz processor speed,
1 GB memory and 40 GB hard drive.

I tested Vista from it's beginnings as Longhorn right through to it's final
release as Vista. I don't have it running on any of my systems as XP gives
me all I need.

This is very good advice. Alternately, go to M$'s web site and load the
Vista Upgrade Advisor. It will run and give you a "Rating" for your
computer, and then suggest what you will need to change to make Vista run
at Full Bore (My immediate guess would be RAM and Video card, unless
you've gott Bleeding Edge technology already...)
Also, it will query your apps and then tell you what software will need
upgrading. You can run M$ Office 2000 and 2003 and up on Vista, but a LOT
of my apps were deemed to be incompatible with Vista. Sine I had a good
video card and over a Gig or RAM, that was OK, but it was going to cost
about $600 to upgrade my software!!! Add that to the cost of Vista, and
you're approaching $1000!!!
Just an update. I was able to use the WinXP drivers for both my D-Link
NIC and my HighPoint Raid Controller. So now
I can access the net and use a Raid Controller channel for my hard drive.
WinVista does load much slower than XP. Even
on a computer with 1G of memory and using a AMD 64 dual processor it
seems to run slower than XP. I like Vista but I
will be keeping my XP Pro for awhile.

Nope - i waited until all wizards like yourself said it was pretty
good, then tried it myself... This time i got vista before i listened
to all the wizards but it's not as good as XP...
