Default Unistall Mcafee

Greetings,

Anyone know of a comprehensive and thorough uninstaller for the Mcafee
Service Center and its associated apps that come pre-installed on a Dell
XP box?

Thanks.

There seems to be a problem with this page. So, you may print this:

How to uninstall or reinstall supported McAfee consumer products using
the McAfee Consumer Products Removal tool (MCPR.exe)

Summary: This document explains how to remove and reinstall McAfee
Consumer products using the McAfee Consumer Products Removal tool. This
option should only be used after you remove your McAfee product through
Add/Remove Programs.

Note: This tool was previously named MCPR2.EXE. It is not compatible
with Microsoft Windows 98 or ME.

Description

Running the McAfee Consumer Product Removal tool (MCPR.exe) removes all
2005, 2006, and 2007 versions of McAfee consumer products.

Solution

Step 1 - Download and run the McAfee Removal tool

Note: You should first attempt to remove your McAfee consumer products
using Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control Panel (Programs and
Features, in Windows Vista). This is the best method. After uninstalling
using Windows Add/Remove Programs, run the McAfee Consumer Removal Tool
(MCPR.EXE) to ensure successful removal of all McAfee references.

1. Download the removal tool from:

http://download.mcafee.com/products/...tches/MCPR.exe

2. Click Save and save the file to any folder on your computer.
3. Navigate to the folder where the file is saved.
4. Make sure all McAfee windows are closed.
5. Double-click MCPR.EXE to run the removal tool.

Note: Windows Vista users must right-click MCPR.EXE and select Run as
Administrator.

6. Restart your computer after receiving the message CleanUp Successful.

Your McAfee product will not be fully removed until the system is
restarted. When the message Cleanup Unsuccessful is displayed, you can
view and save your MCPR log files for analysis by Technical Support.

All McAfee products are now removed from your computer.

Step 2 - Reinstall your McAfee Products

I assume you don't want to do this. ;-)

You're welcome, Tamiami.

Do you have a replacement? Kaspersky and NOD32 are very good, and if you
want free, AVG and Avast are decent.

Because of its smaller footprint, I like Avast. Plus, we'll be using IE
only when absolutely needed to access trusted ActX sites (very few).
Opera has been a resounding and secure success for us around here.

There is a removal tool for all McAfee applications, use that to clear the
rubbish out.

http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocumen...c=4105&partner

I've just bought a new machine with McAfee pre-installed and the first thing
I did was remove it using the removal tool.
