Default task manager

help!! for some reason when I try to bring up the task manager I get a
message saying that the administrator has disabled it . as I am the
administrator account and I havn't disabled it what is wrong ? and how do I
go about enabling it. I am running sp2. any help would be gratfully recieved,

Please use the following link and use any of the given methods to enable the
task manager

And get current definitions and do a thorough virus scan of your
system. This could be a legitimate message, but if it happened out of
nowhere it's probably a virus infection. I don't remember the
details, but this was a very common virus a year or so ago.

SatishP,

Thanks for the link. I tried all of the methods, but the second I delete the
item "DisableTaskMgr" it comes back again.

I know I have a malware that I am trying to fix and disable - but I need the
disabled Task Manager to get at it.

I should also add that i tried clicking on the "DisableTaskMgr" and changing
the value to "0", but in a split second it is set back to 1.
