Default System Hangs

Hi
This is the problem I was trying to resolve when I noticed the prvious
problem with Winfast.

Windows XP Home SP2 IE7 Firefox

When the system has fully booted up and is ready to use:
The first time that I try to do anything that needs Internet contact the
whole system hangs for about 2 minutes - once it frees itself everything is
as it should be.

The Internet access could be one of the security packages trying to update,
or opening the mail, or going to a web page.

The network consists of this PC, my other PC which is normally OFF and my
printer. The problem has recently started, it certainly never used to matter
whether

Hi
System XPSP2 Home, IE7 OE6 Firefox

This is the problem I was originally, and still am, chasing.

After booting OK, the very first access to the internet causes the whole
system to hang for 2 minutes, after that all goes OK

My network is two XP systems connected through a megabit router, together
with a printer connected to an ADSL modem/router. ADSL speed normally 2Gig
down and 512 K up.

It doesn't matter whether the other system is on or off, same for the
printer.

This seems to have come on after a Windows update a month ago

Any ideas please ?

Thanks

Red

Can you use the task manager to determine what process is active?
