Default Start up

On start up my XP Home does a complete systems check and includes checking the hard drive for errors and virus's how do I stop this as it takes ages to boot up the computer?

Two places to look:

Start|Run Type msconfig and hit Enter. Go to the Statup tab and look
for the program's name there. Uncheck it if it's there

Open Control Panel and click on sheduled Tasks. If it's in there,
delete it.

Since it's performng two functions, there might be two programs
involved, i.e. Chkdsk and something else like an antivirus program..

Check to see if your antivirus program is set to do a scan at start-up. If so disable that option.
