I (re)set up a old laptop.
Because I am the only one to use it, I wanted to get rid of the login
(Welcome) screen.
Looked this up and found (somewhere, but where ?) a command containing - I
think - "userpassword2".
Got the user-screen and ticked off the question if users have to log on with
their password.
After that all my setting were changed (read "erased"), and I always seem to
login as Administrator.
As I wanted to go back to the old system, I tried using "Settings/Control
Panel/User Accounts", but when I try "Change the way users log on or off" ,
I get "A recently installed program has disabled the Welcome screen and Fast
User Switching. To restore these features, you must uninstall the program.
The following name might help you identify the progam that made the change :
C:\WINDOWS\system32\awgina.dll".
(This seems to be part of AnyWhere).
I'm worried, please can somebody help me to get my system back to the
"maiden" state.

Thank you, JD, that solved the User-account-question.
Is there any way to get my old settings back, e.g. my Message Rules in OE ?
(lot of work, you know)
BTW, is Microsoft aware of the difficulty in getting just the name of the
newsgroup (I mean, to find "msnews.microsoft.com") ?
Indeed, with the loss of all my settings the newsgroups I subscribed were
also lost.
Regards and thanks again,
Gilbert

Good to hear the one part is fixed. I don't use OE for newsgroups so I'm
not sure how to get your old setting back. Maybe post your question in
microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general ?
