Right click on a vacant part of the task bar and, from the drop down menu,
select Properties. The 'taskbar and start menu properties' window will open.
Click the Start Menu Tab. On the start menu tab, Click the Customise button.
In the Customise Start Menu window, Click the Advanced tab. In the Advanced
tab window look at the bottom of the window and you will see a section
marked 'Recent Documents'. If you remove the 'tick' mark from the 'List my
most recently opened documents' option the recent documents feature will not
appear on the start menu. If you just want to 'clear' the most recent
documents, then click the 'clear list' button. Finally, Click the OK button
followed by OK again in the next window to close down the start menu window.
