Default How can I stop IE from moving to the front when it's finished doingsomething

I'm transferring some docs from an intranet site to Word the hard way,
page-by-page. I click in IE, select text, hit copy, then click back
in IE so it can get back to the menu because the site is slow. Then I
go to word, click where I want the text to go but suddenly we're back
in IE and I've clicked a link! It's infuriating.

Is it possible to stop this behaviour?
