How can I adjust the saturation of my monitor?

How can I adjust the saturation of my monitor?

It's a Syncmaster 171P.

I went to Start > Control Panels > Appearance and Themes > Display >
Settings > Advanced > Utlility Manager > Video Settings, and slid the
Saturation slider left and right, but there's no change in the
saturation on the screen.

I checked various other similar windows, but I'm still flummoxed.

Since adjusting the 'saturation' (sometimes called 'vibrance') is a function
of the graphics card and its driver, not your LCD monitor, it is impossible
to answer your question without knowing the graphics adapter and drivers you
have installed.

Posting that information may get you the help you need. The quickest way to
get to the adjustments for your display is to Right Click on any unoccupied
portion of the desktop, then select the graphics adapter control panel - the
control panel should have a help function. (Hint: depending on your
graphics adapter and its drivers, it may be necessary to click on 'Apply' to
see any change.)

When I right-click on the desktop, the popup window says Properties,
among other things.

When I move the mouse button to Properties, a window pops up called
"Display Properties".

In Display Properties > Settings, it says, "Display: Plug and Play
Monitor on SiS 650_651_M650_M652_740.

It doesn't say "Apply" in that window.

Color saturation (or vibrance) IS NOT A FUNCTION OF THE MONITOR. IT IS A
FUNCTION OF THE GRAPHICS ADAPTOR.

Use the Tab for your graphics card, NOT the Tab for the monitor.

As I posted "it is impossible to answer your question without knowing the
graphics adapter and drivers you have installed.

Please post this information.

As long as you don't post the details about your system, you are unlikely to
get the help you need.
This is NOT the best place to ask your question, as your problem has nothing
to do with the operating system.

Read the manuals. Find out what display adapter you have. Contact the
manufacturer of the computer system and or the manufacturer of the display
adapter. Or use a little more creativity in your Google search; don't be so
literal - try [ LCD monitor saturation ] and don't use the brackets.

Unless you come forth with further information, posting here is not going to
be productive.

I don't have any business offering help in this newsgroup, but for what
it's worth, there's a program out there called "Belarc Adviser" (or
Advisor) which I've found invaluable in finding out about my computer.
You just run it, and it generates all sorts of details in an HTML file,
which you can save for future reference. I do that every time I make
changes.
