I'm new to news groups and was wondering if there is a searchable archive of
problems and questions addressed within past post? Second question: Within
the new users guide it talked about another way to view these post. What is
that way and how do I set that up? Thank you all for being patient with the
newbie!

Kudos to you for asking! Google Groups archives Usenet so that's where
you would search. The advanced search function is particularly useful if
you want to confine the search to a certain date range, newsgroup(s),
and language. Here's my usual "blurb" about not using the web interface
(as you are doing now) and using a real newsreader instead. There are
also links to get you all set up.
Since you are using the web interface, you may not realize that this is
really a newsgroup. You will get far more out of this resource if you
learn to use a newsreader. There are many good newsreaders for Windows,
but you can use Outlook Express (XP) or Windows Mail (Vista) since you
already have it. Here are some links to information about newsgroups:
I keep seeing "outlook express" what about the full version of outlook 2007
or 2003, will they work? Furthermore I've always heard news group since I was
a little kid but have never used or know of any. So in essence I'm a news
group virgin... LOL

Outlook does not do newsgroups. It calls Outlook Express (or Windows
Mail I suppose if you are on Vista).
