Default Directory/Folder View

I use VLC for music and when I click, in VLC, on "Open file", in any
directory or folder, I get, on the left side, "My Recent Documenst",
"Desktop", "My Documents", "Computer", and "My Network Places".
I do not get this view from "My Computer" or anyother method of seeing
what files are in a folder or directory. I have the "View" set to "Tiles"
everywhere. I would like to get rid of the left side of the window, but
don't know how. Is this a VLC problem or is there a method to rid myself
of this irratation ?? TIA

Default Re: Directory/Folder View

Try going to the Control Panel (Start, Settings, Control Panel)
Select Folder Options
General tab
check "Use Windows Classic folders

It is set to "Classic Folders". Like I mentioned , it's only with this one
particular program. I guess it's VLC that's the problem.
