Desktop icons missing

Hello, and thanks for looking

my son stated he tried to delete a google task bar and he deleted the
explorer file thinking it was part of google

I've tried to Control/Alt/Delete and run "explorer"
but nothing happens other than the window blinking and nothing new appears.
still no icons or task bar and nothing shows in the taskmanager to be
running although
the performance tab shows something is running



When I went to run explorer, and on the dropdown list, I also saw where
evidently he had also been to
the regedit file.
I do not know what he might have done there

I would run the system restore but I can't get anything to show except the
wallpaper
and blank task manager window.

Is there anything else I can try?
