D-Link DWL-G650 adapter DI-624 router wireless connect problem

Have set up 128 encrypt wep on router and have set up adapter on my laptop
with XPpro sp2. when I reboot computer cannot find the network connection.
None listed. Also cannot reconfigure to connect again. Have to remove
adapter and reinstall to get it to connect again.
Have followed all instruction on set up several times. get the same result.
