You certainly haven't given us much to work with. Here are a few links that
may help:

You receive an "Error occurred while Windows was working with the Control
Panel file" error message when you open Control Panel in Windows XP SP2
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;892890

Control Panel stops responding in Windows XP -
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;843551

If those links don't help, then please post back with a better description
of the problem, your system, and the answer to The First Question of
Troubleshooting: what changed between the time things worked and the time
they didn't.

These links will help with posting more details:

Denis

Please post a copy of the Error Report as it appears in the System log
of Event Viewer

Access by selecting Start, Run, type "eventvwr.exe" without quotes and
hit ENTER.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

Hope this helps.
