I know windows has short cut so that you dont have to type .com at the end.
Instead one can do something else but i can remember what that is. I looked
in the help section but cant find it or maybe i missed it there. If someone
has it, plez pass it on to me.. thanks in advance
You're talking about Internet Explorer? Quite a while back, with an early version of IE5, you could just type in "Microsoft" and it would take you to microsoft.com. If there wasn't any such thing, then it would try microsoft.org, and a couple of others. However, that facility is long gone. What you now get, if you don't put .com (or .org, etc.) is a search page.

Assuming you are referring to Internet Explorer, when you left click the
address entry field, the current URL is highlighted. Simply type the new
site without .com or the http:// characters and hold the Ctrl key as you
press Enter. For example, type "ebay" (without the quotes), then
Ctrl+Enter.

The Ctrl+Enter shortcut still works, at least on my installation of IE
version 7 and XP Home.

Huh! Didn't know about that! Thanks! (Works on IE6 SP1, too.) And all these
years, I was crying over one of my favorite details being done away with.
Now to train myself to use that Ctrl key. Works if you hold down Ctrl and
click the Go button, too.

Then I should point out that I also just learned from another that IE in
WinXP SP2 is versioned "IE6 SP2". Go figure. I always thought IE6 SP1 was
the end of the line.

However one can type just Microsoft, and press Ctrl-Enter instead of just
Enter. That adds www. at the beginning and .com at the end.
