When closing down my computer, which runs on XP Home Edition with Support
Packs, I get an error message, MCCWSAWindow: this program is not responding
and inviting me to close it manually. What is this program? How can I stop
this message appearing so that the program closes automatically?

Hello. I just started experiencing this same issue and found your exchange
with Jonathan while searching the Web for information.
However, my situation is different...I don't subscribe to BT (British
Telecom?), so my PC is not running BTHelpNotifier.
I subscribe to Verizon Online, a DSL provider that, curiously, has something
called "McciTrayApp" running on my system (according to the Windows Task
Manager), which is why I'm thinking this could also be related to them
somehow.
In short, though, if someone is getting those MCCWSAWINDOW messages, and is
NOT a BT subscriber, then what else might be causing them?
Please let me (and others) know. Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Bram Weiser

Different ISP's use Motive's software to help deliver their internet
service.

Yes, the "Motive" name is familiar and I think Verizon DOES use it.
However, this is the first time that this particular app has caused me
difficulty. (True, it's after I'd reinstalled Verizon's software, using a
newer release of their CD, but what I'm saying is that I never had issues
with Motive -- that I knew of -- before.)
As this may well be a part of Verizon's software that it could need to run
(not sure, just saying...), what do you recommend if it continues to be a
problem? Disable McciTrayApp (and with what other consequences)? Contact
Verizon and ask them? (that latter point is dicey -- sometimes they have
great tech support, sometimes not) Something else?
Thanks again.

I don't use Verizon services or their software so I can't tell you more
about it. Try disabling it and see if it helps and see if your internet
still functions properly after you disable it. Otherwise check with
Verizon's tech support.

Thank you, again, John, but I hope you'll understand that I'm a bit leery of
just disabling something without knowing some more about it. Plus, the fact
that I've never seen MCCWSAWINDOW in the Task Manager, but I DID see
McciTrayApp, adds to the confusion.
So, yeah, if this continues, I may well contact Verizon (hoping for a
competent Tech Support Rep, as sometimes appears) and see what they say.
Thanks for your advice.
Does anyone else have thoughts about this?

I use Verizon and none of the Motive Smartbridge software is necessary.
In fact it's been a problem for a lot of users. There should be an entry
in add and remove software to remove it. It's been a long time since I
removed it I don't really know how it's listed but I seem to remember it
said Motive Smartbridge. You might also try a google on remove Motive
Smartbridge.
(For clarity, I moved your comments to just below this post.)
Thanks. Yes, in the past I did see Motive Smartbridge. However, FWIW, with
this new CD from Verizon, nothing like that appears now in Add/Remove
Programs. The only Verizon thing there is Verizon Online Help and Support.
Thanks, though. If this continues, I'll see what Verizon recommends.
Much appreciated.

OK I'll top post this one. You can remove that if you want. It's their
chat type support and and it's worse than their support available by
phone,if that's possible.
You might try the 0.verizon groups at news.verizon.net. I usually get
some good info there.
