Using XP Pro... periodically (actually almost weekly) the screen resolution
changes so that I have larger icons on the desktop. The Icons get all
******* up. I just generates a fair amount of "house keeping". Why is this
happening?
I find the usual culprit is some reasonably old kiddies games requiring 600
X 800 & only 16 colours or something.
Most will return your screen back to normal but some won't.
One trick to avoid some "housekeeping" is set it to "auto arrange". (Rt
click & "arrange icons by...")

Agree that it is most likely some program that is only run occasionally. You
could also look into updated video card drivers in case there is a related
issue that new drivers would clear up.
