Default Can't get updates for weeks now.

Why am I getting this error whenever I try to get updates for my computer:
Error number: 0x80244022. I have a legal copy of WXP-SP2/HomeAddition.

If not, then please repost in the update group. Microsoft personnel
are there to help solve update problems.
(They may be swamped, so please be patient)

HTTP_STATUS_SERVICE_UNAVAILHttp status 503 - temporarily overloaded

0x80244022 is equal to error code: SUS_E_PT_HTTP_STATUS_SERVICE_UNAVAIL



This error code is caused by the BITS service, which gets stopped on
every
restart. Ensure there is no Active Antivirus or Firewall running on the
machine.



1. Restart BITS and Update Services to ensure the service is running
normally.



2. Clearing the BITs queue:
To clear the BITs queue, you can use the steps outlined in the
following:
920649 You cannot download new updates from a server that is running
Windows Server Update Services

3. Some Internet Explorer temporary files are corrupted. Clean IE.

1. Click "Start" and click "Run", input "INETCPL.CPL" (without quotation
marks) and press Enter.
2. Click "Delete Files" and click "OK" when prompted to confirm.
3. Click "Settings", and then click "View Files". Delete all files in
this folder.
4. In the Settings window, click "View Objects". Delete all the objects
in this folder. If some objects cannot be deleted, please restart the
computer and try again.
5. Switch to the "Advanced" tab, click the "Restore Defaults" button and
then deselect "Enable third-party browser extensions".
6. Then click "OK" to quit.

Then please visit the Windows Update site to test the issue again.
However, if the issue persists, please refer to the next suggestion.



4. The Windows Update temporary folder is corrupt.Clean up Windows
Update temporary folder.

1. Click Start, Run, type: cmd and press Enter. Please run the following
command in
the opened window.

Net stop WuAuServ

2. Click Start, Run, type: %windir% and press Enter.
3. In the opened folder, rename the folder SoftwareDistribution to
Sdold.
4. Click Start, Run, type: cmd and press Enter. Please run the following
command in
the opened window.

Net start WuAuServ
