Can't find a simple setting

I'm sorry to bother this group with a Win2000 question but I can't find an
alternative.

My printer prints in a font that is way too large for a "screen page"
(email, web page, office document) to fit on an 8.5 x 11 paper and I just
can't find the setting to reduce its size when printing. I have gone thru
the Control Panel settings and played with every setting I thought could
apply, with no luck. I have checked the printer documentation but found
nothing there either. Somewhere there is a setting. I just can't find it.

Thanks to both respondents but I'm not hopeful. I posted to the
Win2000.printer group but the last post there was June 11. I looked for a
Canon Pixma ip4300 tech support or forum site with no luck there either.
