Ken...I meant it is better to prevent a troll, stalker, or other *******
from following you around in newsgroups, if he or she wanted to make your
life miserable. I addressed this in my second post which you said you
didn't get.

Yes Ken...I meant e-mail address (I call it name, or logo, or handle) - what
is the best term. I see what you are saying. So the bottom line is there
is no way to stop a troll from following you and messing with you if he/she
wants to (ie all they have to do is type your munged e-mail address in the

That is not how the header is being used, however. Some users, as a
default, configure their NNTP client to always insert the header whether
it is relevant or not based on its original intended usage.
