I am the sole user of my machine, does that automatically make me the
Administrator ?

On my old ME machine there was a utility that told me how fast I was
up and down loading bits via my phone line, is it somewhere in XP ?

TIA

But the program I spoke of is loaded "in the machine" on the old ME

Are you sure you are not thinking of the Task Manager?
