When I try to instll windows vista, when the first reboot comes up, it shows
a "windows boot manager" screen with earlier version of windows and windows
setup. When I do earlier version, it takes me back to windows XP. When I do
windows setup, it stays at a loading screen.
P.S.-It automatically takes me to setup after 2 seconds.
The first reboot is about the halfway point of installation as far as time
goes. It may remain at the loading screen for quite some time until the
first setup completes. Watch to see for drive chatter to ensure it is
progressing.

do not select anything, just let the setup continue to run.
it should auto select the vista setup and continue. if you manually select older windows you bypass the continuing of the setup.
