Why cant I record videos with my webam?

I have an Acer5610z running Vista home premium with the built in acer orbicam
webcam by bison. it works for chats but when I try to record a video with
windows movie maker it says device not compatible. Is it not possible to do
or do I just need a download or setting change to fix the problem. Acer has
a program called arcade deluxe that is installed on the computer and it will
load but not record with that either. any step by step instructions for a
beginer are appreciated.
