Default Why ALT key makes other controls disappear?

There are some buttons and chechbox control on the dialog. While running on
XP, it works well. But when it runs on Vista, pressing ALT(only ALT) key will
make all these controls disappear, leaving only some short underlines.
Why does this happen? How can I fix it?

Can you attach screen shots? Use the snipping tool....

Sounds like you are using Classic menus. From Windows Explorer click on
Organize | Folder and search options. Is "Use Windows classic folders"
selected? If so select "Show preview and filters".

In lieu of a screen shot/photo of the offending happening, you must give
more information. What program does this occur in? What window, within that
program, exhibits that behavior?

Pressing the alt key will do different things in different programs and
windows.
