You're not alone. It's a snafu on the part of Microsoft, otherwise known
as pushing out untested crap so you, the paying customer, can test it
for them:
Re: vista won't reboot after update failed to install
Press F8 several times during the 'black screen' portion of the restart,
right after the BIOS screen. The safe mode menu that appears will let you
select 'last known good configuration' You can also try system restore if
that fails.
..

Really stupid advice. What then, reinstall the updates that will start
the rebooting again? It's a snafu on the part of MS and ISN'T FIXED.
Re: vista won't reboot after update failed to install
I fix the problem by using the original Vista DVD to access the restore to an
earlier point. Otherwise the darn thing kepy coming back even in safe mode.
Kudos to microsoft for been so diligent when creating updates. Myabe the
should try first their wives computers before experimenting on us.

Now you know why my copy of Vista Ultimate is sitting on the shelf,
gathering dust and waiting for SP2.

Re: vista won't reboot after update failed to install
I am alos having this proble. I have tried the F8 suggestion and it still
fails on the attempted updates. My Vista came preinstalled on my notebook so
I don't have a CD to boot from. Any other suggestions.

We have finally learned why Frank posts to this group. Please see the thread
Who is "nostop" ....?
In that thread Frank says he posts here because
"Same reason everyone else does ********!
Still wanna dance?
Frank"
I was mistaken as to why people post here. I thought it was to help people
with Vista problems, but by reading Franks posts you would think otherwise.
Does everyone else here like to use profanity every chance they get?
Do you like to demean people?
Have you anointed yourself as the Protector of Vista?
Then, according to Frank, this is the NG for you and this why people post
here.

This part is for Frank.....I'll use simple words so that Frank can
understand.....
Frank; Vista is not a human being. It does not have feelings. It is not a
way of life. It is an Operating System. It does not need defending (let
alone from a boorish simpleton like you) it stands on its own merits or not
depending on your point of view. Vista is a thing. Please concern yourself
with something that a) you know something about and b) is worth defending.
I would like to thank you in advance.
