Default Vista will not boot... after uninstalling Netgear Software

I am running Vista SP1. Yesterday I uninstalled the Netgear SC101
Management Software and was prompted to "restart the computer". Vista
starts but will not fully boot, it continually re-starts shortly after
loading the "Microsoft" slider.

When I start in Safe Mode, Vista shows the last driver loading as
"crcdisk" before it then re-starts?

Help! What's the safest and quickest way of getting my system back
(please not a rebuild and restore from backup).

Will a boot to a "last known good" work?

Meantime, Ive posted to the Netgear Forum ...

Thanks

crcdisk is the last thing to be loaded. Remember you are loading the
basics. Obviously Netgear left something on your system - could be in the
registry - that forces a reboot as it cannot find what it is looking for.
You can try doing a registry search (regedit) for netgear and deleting what
you find but I would try a restore to the day before you uninstalled that
software. That alone may suffice.

I had the same issue. If you insert your vista install disk and choose the
option to repair the installation it should get you back up and running
without loosing you data. I was able to recover from the endless reboot cycle
by doing this and did not loose any data.

I was able to finally get my sc101 working with vista. Now it works great.
When you try to reinstall the sc101 manager be sure to turn off your virus
software and your firewall. Once installed then you can turn it all back on.

Good Luck

Charley
