Default Vista Update broke my notebook

Hello,
Notebook: AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-50 1.60 GHz,1024 Ram,32bit Vista Home Premium
Everytime I downloaded updates next restart of notebook slowdown to 15
minutes!. When Vista is loaded an opening of file takes 2 minutes. I
re-installed windows severely but it never fixed.

Use the restore to a date before this started. I doubt it was the updates
that cause it?

If you're running antivirus software, turn it off and restart Vista.

Ian, I haven't tried this in Vista but as I recall, if you reinstalled XP
over itself, you'd lose any system restore dates and as he seems to have
done precisely that with Vista, assuming it functions the same way, I don't
think that option will be available to him.
