Default Vista Ultimate upgrade disk & new hdd

I've read the double install / loophole to get a fresh install of Vista from
an upgrade version. I wanted to do this on a new hdd and partition the
drive into a C and D with Vista on the C drive. I am presuming Vista will
offer the choice of a separate partition during the install ? TIA.

Yes, although the disk partitioning is kind of hidden under an option
button. Look for it when you are asked to choose the install destination.
